Let The Hate Mail Begin

Honestly, I have been on the fence about this immigration situation. Kansas City did not close down or even came close to being disrupted by the rallies today. So now after reading several news stories I am ready to stand one way or another. My stance: shut the hell up! America is NOT anti-immigrant. America is anti ILLEGAL immigrant. My father jumped through hoops to come to this country. Why should those who sneak across the river in the middle of the night get preferred treatment? When I see people waving their homeland flag instead of the stars and stripes I get livid. At first I was thinking "oh let those who are already here, stay" but now; no way. I have changed my mind and will not be bullied into voting for law breakers.

Leslie, how are things going for you? I'm still thinking about you and praying.

Sangroncito, thanks for no hate mail but because you mention Mexico I will pick on them for a minute.

These people waving their Mexican flags should be having this rally in Mexico. Demand better working wages. Demand health care and a clean environment. Demand less corruption in politics. Demand American companies pay fair wages or get out. But make these demands of your OWN nation.

The illegal puts more strain on our economic resources than you think perhaps cancelling out any benefit they might add. I think as a tax payer I should not have to foot the bill of resource classes, bilingual education unless it is teaching our children a language other than English (not the other way around) and hospital visits of the undocumented worker. And I sure as heck don't think they should be given the right to vote!

You say no one would take those dirty jobs but if the greedy American companies paid fair wages in the first place there wouldn't be a need for illegals to scamper up those jobs. Yes, most of this is America's own fault but unless something is done soon, our nation will break. No other nation caters to illegal immigrants like we do. Since the Republicans are the ones stalling on this and I am a registered Republican I have decided to get on the phone today and demand some action out of my congress people. I know you have strong feelings on this and I do respect them especially since they come from your heart. But I have developed some strong feelings on this too.

On the flipside, I think we do have some stupid laws on who gets in and who doesn't. Along with "border control" changes I think there needs to be a complete overhaul of the current system such as with travel visas, worker permits and student visas.

I say all of this respectfully to you of course. Please know that if I thought for one minute that I was being malicious I would change my stance. But I do not think my way of thinking is cruel. I am thinking toward the future like getting a very unpleasant but much needed immunization.

maybe I should have posted or emailed this, eh? It's like a freakin novel!

No hate mail here. If things in their own country are so stinkin' bad, stay home and fix them. How do they think the US got to be where it is? Because we fixed it. Lots od people DIED to make this country free and stay that way. If we all went away whenever things got bad, we would probably be in as sad a state as a lot of other places. So stay home and fix your own country first.
As far as a labor source, get people off of public support and make them work for any money they receive. No work, no pay.

we've got Native American troubles locally here, so I'm not too sure whats going on where you are at (I'm small minded I guess)but I see everyones point in this debate. I most assuredly agree with you daphne with this: if N. America is so terrible, and you hate it here so much, then feel free to not use any services here, feel free to leave and don't be brash enough to wave your homeland's flag about neither. However, I have seen the "underworld" of things and I completely know of what Sangroncito is saying too...I suppose in an idealistic viewpoint...we'd be best to side with you, but the reality is...I don't think things are going to change any time soon. Unfortunately, society and government are such that things are the way they are for a reason I think. That said, Canada is not known for being a melting pot like we consider the US citizens....but...I believe in making a universal culture to N.A. or Canada, rather than letting individuals whine, complain and do whatever the heck they want in the name of religion, tradition, beliefs....they say politics have no place in religion....ok...but fair is fair. This IMHO should mean no turbans allowed in the workplace, sure, get rid of all traditional Christian symbology out of the government, sure disallow racism and cultural hatred.....but put it all on an equal playing ground. I'm tired of being a traditional blond haired, blue eyed, white girl who feels she should have to apologize for it. I am not a supremist, but I don't think I should be treated like I am at fault for being what I am either.

yes, that is good, Daphne- I agree with you about America being very pro-immigrant, anti-illegal-immigrant...
From what I understood, and maybe I don't have a full understanding... Lots of legal and illegal immigrants were protesting because Congress was trying to pass a law that would make it a felony to be an illegal immigrant in the U.S.
If an immigrant were illegal, why would they care that it is a felony? Being a convicted felon means you don't get to vote in some states (not all) but an illegal immigrant already does not vote. I'm a little bit confused, even after looking up the news articles...
Thank you for commenting on FFF, Daphne :0)

Sunny, I have mellowed a bit. I am the daughter of an immigrant, my step-brothers and step-sisters are from Mexico and became citizens (legally) so I have issues with the waving of foreign flags when wanting rights in America. I still will vote to have stricter laws. But I think the democrats were right to target the employers. If there weren't jobs this wouldn't be an issue. JMO of course.
