Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Well yesterday was absolutely beautiful. It was kind of chilly and the sky was very blue like it can only be after a storm. I feel fall is coming. This is a new experience for me. Well sort of. We did live in Berlin for two years and there were seasons there. Actually, in Berlin they had a saying: It's really really cold in Berlin for two months out of the year. Then the other 10 months it is just cold. Okay, I digress. I am liking my new city and the feel of seasons. The trees are getting bare and I expect to see a whole slew of pumpkins at the Farmer's Market this saturday, what do you think?

And for another topic: self-esteem and dieting. I am on fast day 14 today. So that means about 28 days of dieting. However, I do not feel I am losing fast enough. It could be that my job requires me to sit on my fat ass all day long. Then after working 40 hours on my rear-end I spend another 40 taking children to and fro sitting on my butt in a car. What is up with that? So my self-esteem is at an all time low. Just in time for the company picnic where I see all of the desperate nurses looking for a budding neurosurgeon who has a fat ugly wife that they can steal away. I ought to give them lots of hope. See how I am? The problem with body issues is that the normal therapy of chocolate is a no-go. I am so screwed. Here is hoping diet Dr. Pepper does the trick.

ok, daphne? tho' I DON'T want to necessarily get into a hot tub with you nekkid, I'm sure you understand. I CAN offer sympathy. While I know you won't believe it, and therefore, it won't mean much to you, you DO look really pretty. You have also EARNED the right to have pudgey bits, you gave the man children, which IMHO should make him love those bits extra much. I know how you feel about hte women, because M (though he's no doctor) is a fairly important person at his work, and the women flock like seagulls all around him, all the time. I constantly wonder if they are asking each other why he stays with his fat wife who is not even pretty. Don't sweat it, I know it's cuz they want to be with us.

hey thanks y'all. I went out for a walk today and realized my pants are falling off so I think the diet is going better than I previously thought. I will not step on a scale until November (right before Thanksgiving) because I have made that vow to myself. I guess it is like the watchpot never boils type of thing. But thanks again. It's so great to have such uplifting friends. There you go Dave. another flashback, huh? And Spencer you are so tempting. he he he Rowan, no hard feelings at all girlfriend LOL

Hi Daphnewood,

Hmmm...I have clearly read this post too late to comment on it appropriately. But I will anyway. All I have seen of you is your profile pic, but you look beautiful in that, which means that you must be even more beautiful in higher resolution (which is to say, in real life). Congratulations about your pants getting looser - this is a good thing, unless they start falling off completely in public places of course. ;-)

Yeah mum, no pulling what my uncle does. He'll start walking about then all of a sudden you hear a loud, 'Woah!' as he tries to save his pants from falling down. Wonder why he doesn't get smaller pants? Oh well, mum. Mousie and I may tease ya, but you aren't the least bit pudgy, you are an awesome mum. Why else would I want so badly to see you guys again? Not only for my little sister, but for you, and the boys. And Dr. Dad, Gamma, and Sock. ^_^ I can't wait until I get to see my family again. Oh, and keep your spirits high, mum. If my little sister can, you can too. ^_^

I love DDP, as I call it. It gets me through the day sometimes.

Pants falling off? So you ARE losing, just not as fast as you wanted. I hear you though, the first 3 weeks of my diet I lost 16 pounds and last week I lost 1 more measly pound. BUT!!!!! I didn't gain one. I am still losing. So you have to think that way girl!

**hugs**

AND! You are not ugly. Even if the nurses THINK they have a chance, don't you remember what your darling said to you some time ago?

Tuesday, May 31, 2005, you posted that [He] reminded me when he was in basic training (many many many years ago) he only got to use the phone 10 minutes a week. He said " I stood in the freezing snow in a long line to use a pay-phone where everyone could overhear our conversation. Just to talk to you for 10 minutes. But that is okay. You were worth it and I would do it again today because you are still worth it. "

Most of what makes people beautiful is confidence, IMO. Keep up the fab work with the diet :)

Did you talk to a dietician or physician about this?
It is really helpful to have bloodwork done, because then you know what your body needs. If you are missing certain nutrients, your body will store fat to try to make up for the deficiency. It is always a good idea to take multi-vitamins, but also consulting a physician about areas you need to supplement and a diet that is right for you is key. Also, exercise does magnificent things for your body, even if we think it's boring or we don't have enough energy or whatever. The endorphins released when we exercise actually help increase energy levels, and if you get on a regular exercise routine for a couple weeks I guarantee you will notice a difference!! As far as losing the weight fast, if you want to lose it and keep it off, it's not going to be quick. If you want a temporary fix, and are willing to risk gaining back twice as much as you lost (because causing your body to feel starvation actually decreases your metabolism), then here is the best thing.
First of all, grab some garlic pills. Drink things like coffee and tea. These are diuretics and will get rid of water-weight quickly.
Throw that high-fructose corn syrup OUT the window. i.e. DITCH the sodas, Daphne!!
Then, see if you can get a weekend where you don't have much else to do, and someone to uhm keep an eye on the kids. Grab a few bottles of white wine. Friday night, have two eggs, and a glass of white wine. Saturday morning have two eggs and a glass of white wine. Lunch is two eggs and two glasses of wine. Dinner is an egg and finish the bottle of wine. Repeat Sunday.
You will lose ten pounds in the weekend.
