Pondering Towels

I have seven people living in my house right now with me. My husband and three children, my mother and my brother too all living under one roof. Has anyone ever thought about how many towels that generates daily? I feel like I am at a Holiday Inn or something. Seven people, seven towels everyday. And what happens if you have a spill? There goes another one. My family likes to use towels as big as beach towels too. We go through Downy quicker than milk. My mom does most of the laundry but towels are something we have to wash everyday to keep up with the demand. How many towels do you use in a day and who cleans them?

Speaking of Holiday Inn, we follow the same policy they have...if it's on the floor it goes in the wash. Otherwise, we assume that the guests (which is to say, Thor and I) will be using that particular towel again.

Oh, alright, for me, truth is I'm often too lazy to get a towel, and will just drip-dry!

When it comes to linens, I think I'm in the minority. I did even know that sheets were supposed to be changed until one day a peer at college gagged when I told them that I didn't change my sheets. (I now change them once a month just to be rid of invisible dust mites.)

With towels and clothes, I don't wash until they are smelly or dirty. Not smelly or dirty? Leslie wears it again! Since I see myself as a very clean and fresh little girl, I don't see this as a problem.

Jason's washing policy is completely the opposite. You touch it, you wash it. It's not that he fears dirt as much as he's just stuck in that mantra. I told him that if we get married, he better not throw things in the laundry basket unless they're really dirty or less I will smell his laundry to make sure.

I'm guessing this will all change when I have kids. I heard they're not very neat.

Towels, we have like twelve, and my two brothers and I share a towel, we take our baths one right after the other. So that's seven towels, a week. Then my aunt uses two towels per day, my uncle one. Giving it seven plus.. 21. @.@ Which would be 28.. THat's alot of towels. I usually wash them. (They are easy to fold.) And I usually do clothes too. (Making the step-headed red-child help me.) Wow. Didn't think it was that much until now. xD Love ya mum.

That would be me of course...I am so lucky- I get ALL the laundry :)
I, too, wash towels daily. Bath towels we go through at leats 6 a day ( 5 of us + 1 for my hair); then add in the kitchen towels and washrag.....It is too much, I tell ya!!

Oh, I almost forgot. I have been looking at bowling balls because I want to get Ryan one for Christmas. I found one at Walmart for around 40 bucks. I seen some cool ones at the sporting goods store for around 60. Hope that helps :)

god I hate to admit this, but I'm willing to wager I use at least as many towels in a day as your family does. My daughter takes sometimes as many as 3 or 4 showers/baths a day, everytime something spills they (not me) will grab a towel to clean it with and there is only 4 of us plus my sisters family when they visit that creates this mess. Anyway, we go thru i'm guessing about 10 towels a day. I hate it and try to get the kids to use their towels at least a couple times before handing it to me to launder, but sadly, most often I find wet towels on our wood floors left to go moldy or on wood chairs or beds...yuck!

When we are staying in SC with Rob's sister, we each have A SINGLE BATH TOWEL which we're in charge of washing, or letting dry out, etc.

The linens are in the master bath so nobody can really go and get another one.

Basically, if I don't let my towel dry out in the morning after my shower, it's the wet towel I'll be using the next morning. ;-)
