A Conversation With M-Boy

M-Boy and I had this brief conversation a while back. It still haunts me.

M-Boy: Mommy, how many chromosomes does a sea turtle have?
Me: Oh gosh, honey I don't know.
M-Boy: I thought science was your favorite subject.
Me: Why can't you ask me normal questions like "how do you make a bologna sandwich?"
M-Boy: Was there any subject that you were good in when you went to school?

And the pupil surpasses the teacher.

Isn't it great when kids realize we don't know anything?

From about eight years old until 20 or so, kids are increasingly sure you are clueless. It's amazing how much smarter you get once they are out in the real world.

Despite that question, I bet truthfully he looks at you as if the sun rises and sets on you! Hey, let's hope for a good weekend around here. Rain, rain go away..and all that. I wanna play!

That is a great question. And I'm with Sangroncito...tell him to find out and then tell you!

I'd love to know why this particular question. As a recall, some turtles don't have sex chromosomes, so it's a most interesting question.

Spencer, yes that keeps me looking forward ;)

Jayleigh, am sure you have had yor share of strange questions from your extended family members. I think aunts and uncles get the really strange questions.

Rowan, oh yes. But he is at my mercy when he wants scrambled eggs.

Al, my mom has gotten so much smarter to me since I have had children he he he

Vickie, he takes pride in his budding knowledge. I am happy for him truly and he definitely is Mama's baby still. And overcast ALL weekend. What's up with that?!

Sangroncito, he did google it and found nothing. Mr. Dpahnewood tried too but we are still looking a bit. M-Boy is very internet savvy. He has been using computers since age 3. He taught himself to read (and speak) by playing Green Eggs and Ham on the computer.

Kim, I think he even asked his science teacher and has her searching. Now it has become a mission.

Hank, I know EXACTLY why this question. M-Boy has autism and is very aware of certain syndromes that are found on chromosomes. He knows chromososme 15 pretty well. He is frustrated that no one can tell him which one autism in found on. He once told me he wanted to be a geneticist.

Ryan, thanks sweetheart for not adding more to my plate ;) as soon as I get this one answered I will let you know.
