Hurricane Katrina and God's Plans

I am very saddened by what I see on CNN about Katrina. I lived in Houston for many years and made several trips to Lousiana during that time. Houston is about 2 hours away from the border and New Orleans is about a 6 hour drive. I never thought I would like Lousiana but I did and I really liked the people. They are very colorful in character and spirit. Just 13 months ago my husband interviewed for a position at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He didn't care for the town much but was dying to get into neurosurgery. Someone from Houston even called the head of the department on behalf of my husband. We were very hopeful he would get the job/residency position. He didn't get it. We were all devestated. I saw his dreams slipping farther from his reach but I went to my room and prayed. I knew God could see the big picture where we could only see a portion. It is just so hard to have faith sometimes. Then a few weeks later something did happen. Another position opened up here in Kansas. My husband was invited to interview and got the job. I am reminded now of that day I prayed asking God why did he deny Mr.Daphnewood that position. We would have nothing right now if my husband worked there. No home, no job and not much to look forward to. The hospital he interviewed at is closed or going to close. They are asking New Orlean residents to stay away. The town is under 20 feet of water. I have several friends in Baton Rouge and hope everything is okay, especially you Rachel. They have no power. I am thankful that God spared us from such tragedy but now my prayers are going for those thousands of people. Americans do a lot of charity for other countries when there is disaster but now its time we focus on home, Folks. Florida was slammed last year and now Louisiana and Mississippi. New York had 9/11 and we all dug deep into our pockets and our hearts. Lets do the same for these states. You never know when it could be your own and you would need the support and refuge from others.

Hurricane Katrina left a devastating path of destruction. I am a native of Baton Rouge, LA. I now reside in Beaumont, TX. I am heart broken by what I see happenning all over the Gulf region, but especially in New Orleans because of the waters. I believe in my heart that the God I serve is a merciful God. Initially, the hurricane was expected to hit New Orleans head on, but suddenly...it made a miraculous turn. It may appear by the destruction seen that it hit New Orleans head on, but it didn't. However, if it had hit head on, I believe New Orleans would be like the mythological city " The lost city of Atlantis" Therefore, God is merciful and His mercies endureth forever. He has shown his love over and over again. I pray that those in the Gulf coast region who do not know The Lord began to get to know the Lord a little more everyday while they await the rebuilding of there cities. He said, "If you are willing and obedient, I will heal the land." Now, I didn't say God punished New Orleans or the other cities. Please don't misunderstand me, but I am saying that I believe that God is fully in control. I believe that all things were made by Him and for Him, and nothing would be if it had not been for Him. Therefore, I believe that He should get the attention that He deserves. The federal government, the state government, and the local goverment can help tremendously, however; they couldn't do anything for these wounded states, if authority had not been given to them from above. People say, " God bless America." I say, "America bless God!" Let's stop living immorally and live morally. The Lord Jesus is calling the American people to repentance. He don't want us to look to the casinos(gambling), the river boats, the strip clubs, the boose, sexual perversions, lawlessness, drugs or the the physics(voodoo) to know where our help and strength comes from. He wants us to look to Him. He has called us to be HOLY because He is HOLY. The Gulf coast is in my prayers. The Lord says , " He wishes above all that none should perish." He loves you Gulf coast region , and the rest of the U.S. Please give your life to Christ today and watch Him restore you. He loves you and so do I. Sound the alarm...Christ is retuning soon.

PS
I don't care if nobody agrees with me about anything I said, but the fact that all need God in these evil times still remains. Give your life to Christ today. I love you all. Pray...Just Pray!
